National Organisation

DPS

DPS is the student section of the Danish Psychological Association, DP, and it counts over 1000 members, all students. Every year, members are elected into the supervisory board at the local level, and there are 5-7 members in each local branch. There are 4 local boards, and together they constitue the national board, which consists of about 20 members. They meet twice a year to discuss how they can facilitate the professional and political interests of the psychologystudents in Denmark.

Each local board elects a chairman, and of the 4 chairmen, one is elected the chairman, and one is elected the deputy chairman of the national board. They are elected for 2 years. These two are automatically the student-representatives in the board of the Danish Psychological Association, 2 out of 10 members, although they only have 1/3 of a vote. They attend the meetings of DP every month, where some studentpolitical issues are discussed, along with the professional, political and economical issues that arise in such an organisation.

As a member of the board, there is a possibility to be a student representative in different committees, such as the Committee for education and research, the Committee for health and social issues etc. These are usually elected each year, although there is no specific timeline and most students sit there for more than a year.

Apart from focusing on having a strengthened bond to DP, DPS also focus on strentghening the bond between the students at the 4 universities. This is done by arranging various lectures, workshops, conferences etc. that DPS believe have relevance and can inspire and motivate the students. This can be anything from trips to museums that exhibits brains to movie nights with films about therapeutic interventions.
