Call for Research Programme Student Researchers 2022-2023

Are you a motivated European Bachelor or Master-level psychology student? And are you interested in conducting a one-year cross-cultural research project together with students from all over Europe? Do you want to gain experience in every aspect of research, from designing the study to data collection to communicating the results? What is EFPSA Research Programme?

The EFPSA Research Programme (EFPSA RP) is an EFPSA Service, consisting of a twelve-month research programme reuniting students, PhDs, postdoctoral researchers, and established academics. This programme constitutes a unique opportunity, having the aim of gaining research abilities, teamwork, and interpersonal skills in the process of conducting research. Undergraduates or master’s students are supervised by a Ph.D. or postdoctoral researcher, this way having the chance to publish before graduation. More information can be found here. Each year there are (maximum of) six teams, which are made up of (maximum of eight) undergraduate or master’s students and are led by a Ph.D. or a postdoctoral researcher referred to as a Supervisor. The programme begins with the Research Summer School (RSS) which takes place annually in July.

This year the Research Summer School will take place from the 11th until the 18th of July 2022 in Ptolemaida, Greece.
During the Research Summer School, the research teams start developing their research project and designing a plan for their collaboration in the next 12 months. Through the twelve months, the research teams are supported and guided by the Research Programme Team and Advisors to the programme, in order to ensure the research integrity and quality of their project.

In the previous years, we have encouraged our research teams to organise in-person meetings between December and January. The groups have a chance to present their projects at the annual EFPSA Congress in April and publish their work in the Journal of European Psychology Students.

What are the stages of the Research Programme?

In all, there are seven stages of the Research Programme involvement:
1. Attendance at the Research Summer School (RSS) in July.
2. Writing the Registered Report (RR) in the two months after Research Summer School (until October).
3. Working continuously on the tasks for the research project and maintaining communication with the team. Communicate regularly with the RP Team on your research progress.
4. Attending online training and statistical workshops (in November and March).
5. Attending the mid-programme meeting in January/ February (not mandatory).
6. Presenting the work-to-date at EFPSA Annual Congress.
7. Submit completed research papers to the RP Team. All teams have the possibility to publish in JEPS.

What will the Research Summer School look like?

Participation in the Research Summer School includes a fee of 160 euros. The fee covers food, accommodation in a four-star hotel, the social programme, and possible excursion day.
The travel costs are not included in the price.You will need to arrive at the Thessaloniki airport, from which you will be provided with transportation to the venue in Ptolemaida.

After reading the documents, please complete and submit the application form. Be sure to prepare your CV and Proof of Studies in advance and upload them in the Google Form here.
Within the application form, you will answer a series of questions about your motivation and research experience. Be sure to take enough time for the application, at least one hour.
Please ensure you indicate your Research Project preference, the Research Programme team will use this information to pair you with your Supervisor and Research Project!
