Throughout your reading process, you can note down all of the ideas that you find interesting/catchy, but also don’t forget about the references.
Start thinking about the practical implications that you are aiming to highlight in your article. Keep in mind that your articles should target people unfamiliar with the domain and with the scientific jargon. If you want to target specific categories of readers (i.e. parents, teenagers, trainers, recruiters, etc.) try defining your population before you start writing.
Article’s structure
Every article should have a catchy title and some keywords (i.e. happiness, trauma, recruitment, meditation)
Should only consider one main idea that can be followed easily while someone’s reading it (i.e. Happiness at the workplace- main idea; subsequent ideas- why people are unhappy at their workplace, what influences that, etc.)
Should not be longer than 1600 words (1000-1600 words)
You can integrate metaphors and analogies so that the reader can be immersed in what you really mean, but keep in mind that your language should be an interface one.
Make sure that you are using catchy Highlights for every main point related to the topic you are covering (in the forms of subtitles, bold and italic fonts, etc.
The main body
The first paragraph is the most important one since it is your way of catching someones’ attention (And you really want them to keep reading all of your work)
The other paragraphs should be written in an argumentative manner since they are meant to support the main idea
The last paragraph should resume all of your previous ideas, but also bring a conclusion
! Every part of the main body should be followed by a Heading
We promote science in a friendly manner but this doesn’t mean distorting it, so make sure you keep your references for every information that you integrate (APA style, we will have a specific reference section)
You can adapt the same structure to other subcategories of articles
Reader’s digest– You can pick one of the revolutionary articles that you feel like sharing with others and try to catch the main ideas and present them in a very cohesive and practical manner. Focus on trying to transform the rigid hypothesis that was tested into the practical implications that are useful for anyone. Pay attention! The aim is not to change the authors’ ideas, but to summarise and put them in action for the larger public, so keep it professional.
Books/movies review– a book/movie presentation that was recently published/released and you think that people should read/watch it; You can include a short summary of the book/movie’s plot; be sure to talk about how it influenced your perspective/life and why do you think it is suitable for a specific audience.
Interdisciplinary– This is the section where you can write about the relation between Psychology and several other domains (Mathematics, Biology, Arts, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Literature, etc.);
