\nHi \ud83d\ude42 I’m Sarah from tiny Malta (if you don’t know where it is, it’s worth googling it \ud83d\ude1b ). I have recently graduated in Psychology and moved to Southampton, UK to study a Masters degree in Educational Management and Leadership. It has always been a dream of mine to move abroad and I took the opportunity to study while I take this big step towards a new life outside of Malta.What is the word that best describes your experience abroad?<\/strong><\/span>
\nFreedom. Because Malta is such a small country, I\u2019ve always felt a little bit limited, so this experience helped me gain more freedom to explore and see what my potential is.<\/div>\n

What was the worst experience you had there?<\/strong><\/span>
\nNot finding pastizzi in every corner.Was there a situation that made you step outside of your comfort zone?<\/strong><\/span>
\nEvery single day something happens that makes me feel anxious. I am the perfect example of an introvert and it’s really hard for me to make new friends and talk to people who I do not know. However, when you move to a new country you may have to push yourself to get to know people and move out of that awkward phase of that initial small talk.<\/div>\n

Where do you live? Was it difficult finding\/renting a place?<\/strong><\/span>
\nI currently live in a rental apartment with my boyfriend, which is very close to the University (around 15 min walk). We are in love with our new place, it has everything we need. However, we started looking for flats around 6 months prior to our move because we did not want to live in a shared house or student housing. It is pretty expensive to rent a flat in Southampton because most of the flats are unfurnished and do not cover any utility bills.Can you see yourself moving to UK?<\/strong><\/span>
\nI don’t see myself moving to the UK on a long-term basis, however this experience has confirmed that I want to live abroad and after my studies and I would like to try and make a move to a Scandinavian country.Why did you choose University of Southampton?<\/strong><\/span>
\nI chose University of Southampton because it is in the top 1% of UK universities and is one of the founders of Russell Group. Also, the course is based heavily on research compared to other courses in other universities, which was one of my priorities when choosing a course.<\/div>\n
