Frequently Asked Questions
- How does the lottery work?
Our prizes consist of one free ticket, three 20% discounts and two 10% discounts. You are eligible for the free ticket only if you were present during the EFPSA Day and have submitted an application to the EFPSA Congress. All applicants who have applied for the Congress using the application form are eligible for the discount prizes. The winners will be selected and notified at the same time that the applicants will be selected.
- Which airport is closer to the venue?
The distance between the airports (Larnaca/ Paphos) and the venue is more or less the same. We will arrange EFPSA Buses from the airports. Don`t worry about the distance 🙂
- I am from Turkey. Can I travel to the Republic of Cyprus?
Turkish nationals (travelling from Turkey), can come to Cyprus if they travel to the Republic of Cyprus without passing through TRNC. Here is the website giving information about what needs to be done to obtain a visa. It says that an entry visa to Cyprus can be obtained through the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens. From Org Com`s side, we will make sure that the invitation letters/ other paperwork needed will be ready on time for those who will be travelling from Turkey.
Those who are holding residence permits issued by the Schengen Member States will still need to follow the regular visa issuance procedure through the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in their respective countries. Please contact the embassy (where you are based) for further information about the procedure.
In order to travel to the Republic of Cyprus, Turkish nationals need to take a transit flight to Larnaca or Paphos airports (not Ercan).
- The Org Com discussed the arrangement with airlines to get a discount for flight tickets. Do you know when we will know more information about it? Should we wait for the information or buy the tickets as soon as possible so the price is the lowest possible?
We are in contact with several flight companies (Easyjet, Ryanair, Cyprus Airways, Aegean) and have not yet managed to arrange discounts. This is our priority and will try to finalise a deal with them (or one of them) until the second week of February.
Another alternative that we are currently trying is to get extra sponsorships to be able to reimburse some of the travel expenses. We are currently working very hard on this and will keep you posted about our progress.
Please wait for the result of your application first. You will be informed about the results via email by 31st January (or 2nd February at the latest).. If you then see a reasonable flight, please go ahead and book it. Wizz air seems to be the cheapest out of all of them. Flights to Paphos airport tend to be cheaper than flights to Larnaca (Larnaca is the international airport and there are more flight options). Since the distance from both of the airports to the venue is not a concern, please consider both of the airports.
- Can only psychology students apply?
In-person applications should be psychology students and online applications can be from any study programme.
- Are the prices for psychology students and non-psychology students the same? Does it depend on generally attending the whole program or the one day ticket?
Yes, the prices for psychology and non-psychology students are the same as indicated on the website
- What does the one day ticket include?
One day tickets only provide entrance to events (and the scientific and social programme for that specific day) and do not include accommodation and food, therefore you should make your arrangements with the venue.
- Will we receive a certification of attendance? Does it differ if we are attending the whole program or just one day?
Yes, you will receive a certification of attendance in either case.
- If I buy online tickets, can I choose and /or change the dates of my participation?
Yes, it is possible to buy several online tickets and change the date/ type (from in-person to online/ from online to in-person) of your participation later if you wish to do so. Please be mindful that the deadline to change the dates/type of your participation is 22nd March 23:59 CET.
- Can I cancel my participation?
Yes, it is possible to cancel your participation by informing us on congress2022@efpsa.org by no later than 22nd March 23:59 CET. Please inform us in time as we would like to give students on the waiting list a chance for participation in case of a cancellation.
- What happens if someone gets a Covid before the Congress and cannot participate in person? Will there be an option to get reimbursed?
Firstly, we hope that this does not happen to anyone and we will meet in person in Cyprus. This is why we encourage you to be careful of your activities and health a week before Congress, so you do not accidentally get a positive covid-result.
Our cancellation policy is as follows:
- Any in-person participant that cancels before 22nd March 23:59 CET, gets 80% reimbursement, if a replacement for them can be found. If they have the right for 80% refund but wish to participate online, they can get a refund difference between the 80% refund and the price for the online ticket. If they get no refund but want to participate online, they would still need to pay an extra price for the online ticket (if the applications are still open).
- For online applicants, in case of cancellation before 22nd March 23:59 CET, they will be reimbursed 80% of their participation fee.
- In case of transferring the event completely online due to covid regulations by 27th March 2022, the OrgCom is able to reimburse a maximum of 80% of the participation fee.
- In case of someone cancelling due to covid-19, a proof of sickness is needed for the reimbursement.
