Food

The gastronomic experience is key when visiting a country. Since you will have to eat out a few times, here are some of our suggestions:

Vegan:

In a world that aims to be more sustainable, vegan options are always a wise (and tasty) choice, even if this isn’t your main diet! We encourage you to try:

  • Nola Kitchen – they say they are flexitarian and we agree! Here you can find real food – with no additives, oils, sugars or lies. Your taste buds will not complain, your eyes either!
  • Manna – their dishes serve the ahimsa principle of non-violence. A place where you can find seasonal, organic and nutritious food.
  • Kind Kitchen – “Be kind to every kind” is their motto. You can expect diversity: hamburgers, bowls, toasts, wraps… without cruelty. (This one’s more affordable than the others)

Brunch:

“On Sundays, we brunch”. Well, every other day is fair game, too!

  • Nicolau Porto – lovely place, lovely staff, lovely food! Here you can find pancakes, eggs, toasts, salads, burgers, bowls … food for every mood! This place screams joy, go check for yourself!
  • Zenith Brunch & Cocktails – every brunch option is available here, from natural juices to açaí and banana bread. This place is cool and looks cool with its industrial look!
  • Noshi Coffee – a cute little place with plenty of options. You can expect peace and tranquillity, which contrasts with the sometimes-chaotic energy of the city streets.

Cheap options:

In case you are running out of cash (or not, saving money is always welcome, right?):

  • Casanova – if you are running out of time, Casanova is an option! Quick and cheap meals, the combo we crave sometimes!
  • daTerra – an affordable and tasteful vegan option. The menu changes weekly, but we promise it will be a good surprise!

 Typical food

The “you can´t miss this” places when visiting Porto

  • Conga – Casa das Bifanas – Here you can try some delicious typical Portuguese dishes like Francesinha and Bifana. Francesinha is usually made with sausage, fresh sausage, ham and beef steak, topped with melted cheese. Bifanas are thin pork pieces served inside of the
  • Lado B – Another francesinha option? That is right! Northern people love it so much we could not just leave you with one option.
  • O Caraças – One of the best places for Portuguese regional food!

Coffee (a.k.a humanity’s fuel):

  • Costa coffee – when it is cold and you need a coffee to warm up your soul, Costa is a wise choice!
  • Fábrica Coffee Roasters – On a discreet street in Oporto, this place has got the looks and the taste!
